  Be prepared to take a number and wait your turn. Prepare for the wait an magazines or a book or game on the cell. Staff and the building are nice N clean. Very pleasant and professional.

  All in all pretty smooth. Clerk was efficient and very nice. I arrived well before opening and stood in line outside for 50 minutes, so was served pretty promptly. Security is slow bottleneck and very obtrusive, worse even than an airport - empty pockets, remove shoes, take off belt, etc. Keep it reasonable, gentlemen! This pace has a terrible reputation for poor service and long lines. On a previous visit I waited in line 3 hours and left without being served. They simply do not have enough staff for the customer workload. Also, it appeared many people arrived unprepared for an efficient transaction. I arrived with correct forms filled out and spare copies of all needed supporting documentation, all collated and stacked in an order that made sense when examined. Clerk was actually surprised I had forms filled out and ready! This made it easy for the clerk and saved her the time and effort of having to copy stuff for me, and led to a quick and easy and pleasant transaction for both of us. A little preparation makes a big difference for everyone. But y'all just GOTTA hire more staff!

  It amazes me the level of unprofessional activity with this department. My husband was awarded his SSDI Feb of 2016. for 2 months i called the wichita office checking on status, only to find out after 3 months that they had LOST his file after telling me it was still at the adjudicative office. only after calling the adjudicative office and finding out they turned it over the day he won, they suddenly were able to find it sitting in a paper stack. Then, after finally receiving his backpay, its 3 months short! They had set the date of onset incorrectly and shorted his and our son's check by 3 months. We had to get our lawyer involved to make them see their error. Before the lawyer called, they refused to admit they had made one. In november of 16 we finally get a letter admitting it and that they will review the case to see what he's due. NO ONE at the wichita office is apparently able to help with anything. all they will say is its in review at the payment center. how long does it take to make a few key strokes on a computer to review what he's been paid. there's even a handy calculator on the computer to do the math (though i'm sure the agency's program is self calculating). push a few buttons and voila! he gets his check! The staffers do not care that your car is dead and needs repairs and can't get your son to his dr. appointments or that you have bills in collections that need to be paid. they act like this is the first time this has ever happened and don't know what to do. they actually sound baffled as to how to proceed. we have been given every excuse (they fired all the payment center employees and replaced them and it takes 2 years to train). i could rant all day, but it does no good. and we are at their mercy because this is what the government hires. best wishes with your case!

  I waited less than 10 minutes. Everyone was very helpful. Do yourself a favor and try to take as less in as possible for security to run smoothly. Way better than the 2 plus hours I just waited at the tag department!!
